International Meeting & 42nd Annual Conference

of the MSBMB

In conjunction with the

Joint International Symposium on Animal Cell Technology

A collaboration with the Japanese Association for

Animal Cell Technology (JAACT)

16-17th August 2017

Pullman Kuala Lumpur Bangsar

It gives me great pleasure to welcome all of you to the 42nd Annual Conference of the Malaysian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (MSBMB) here in Kuala Lumpur. MSBMB continues its tradition to provide a platform for scientific deliberations among biochemists, molecular biologists and researchers in related fields.

This year, we are honored to hold the conference together with the 3rd Joint International Symposium on Animal Cell Technology (ISACT) in collaboration with the Japanese Association for Animal Cell Technology (JAACT). ISACT is co-chaired with Prof. Tey Beng Ti. On behalf of MSBMB, I wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to JAACT and Prof. Tey for making this collaboration and joint conference a success.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Young Scientist Network (YSN) of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia for partnering with MSBMB for yet another year to facilitate the Meet-the-Expert Session organized especially for our young and up-coming researchers.

Sincere appreciation also goes to our invited speakers, oral and poster presenters who have all contributed to the success of the meeting today. Not forgetting, our gratitude to exhibitors who have given generously toward realizing the conference.

This year’s event would not have been made possible without the hard work and commitment from members of the Organizing Committee. I hereby sincerely acknowledge their tireless effort to bring this meeting to reality. To all conference participants I wish you a pleasant and rewarding meeting.

Welcome to the 42nd Annual Conference of the Malaysian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The Organising Committee and I are very pleased and encouraged at the overwhelming response by scientists and students to showcase their research at this year’s edition of the conference. This year’s conference is held in conjunction with the 3rd Joint International Symposium on Animal Cell Technology (ISACT) in collaboration with the Japanese Association for Animal Cell Technology (JAACT).

Few scientific societies in Malaysia have a history of more than four decades of successful continuous existence with 42 years of annual conferences. So, members of MSBMB can truly be proud of their membership in this Society.

I believe that these the two days of scientific deliberation among scientists from different institutions will foster greater avenues for collaboration and instigate new ideas to achieve greater excellence and success in everyone’s research areas. I hope student participants will also find value, not only in the public presentation in showcasing their research findings, but also inspire them to go on to greater heights in forging new paths in scientific discovery.

The plenary, invited, oral, technical talk and poster presentations encompass a wide range of topics that should enrich and broaden the horizons of our knowledge to new discoveries and ideas. Do visit the poster presentation and support our emerging scientific talent. Do take the time to visit the exhibition booths of our sponsors that are showcasing a variety of cutting-edge technology.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our speakers, poster presenters, participants and sponsors for making this edition of the annual MSBMB Conference a great success. I would also like to thank all the members of the Organising Committee who worked tirelessly from the end of last year to make this Conference a reality and did not let setbacks faze them.

I hope that you will have a great scientifically-enriching experience at the Conference.  Thank you.
