CALL FOR ABSTRACTS & ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

​

The Conference Organizing Committee is pleased to invite you to submit an abstract to be considered for the 27th FAOBMB & 44th MSBMB International Conference. In conjunction with this conference, there will be a Special Symposium on Mosquito-Borne Illnesses. We welcome the submission of original contributions for oral and poster presentations on the following topics and their related areas:

Important Notes

​

  • Accepted abstracts will be presented in either thematic Poster Sessions or Oral Sessions.

  • Authors of abstracts accepted for presentation MUST be registered delegates.

  • It is the author’s responsibility to submit a correctly edited and accurate abstract. Any errors in spelling, grammar or scientific fact will be reproduced as typed by the author. Abstracts will be rejected if they contain no data or if the English is unacceptable.

  • Receipt of abstract submission will be acknowledged immediately upon submission. A decision on the submitted abstract will be sent to the Presenting Author by 10 June 2019 for submissions meeting the 31st May 2019 deadline.  Abstracts received after that date will be notified as soon as possible. .

  • All Presenting Authors will receive, closer to the Conference, detailed presentation guidelines when their abstract has been accepted. The Presenting Author will receive all correspondence regarding the abstract status, presentation type, date and time, via the Presenting Author’s email provided in the abstract submission form.

Programme features:

​

Submitted abstracts will be considered for oral presentations (as ‘Short Talks’ or as ‘Rapid Oral Talks’ in the Symposia) or for poster presentations.

 

Oral Presentations (selected from submitted abstracts) – 15 min (12 min presentation + 3 min discussion)

 

Rapid Oral Presentations (selected from submitted abstracts) – 5 min

 

Posters

Posters will be displayed based on session topics on a daily basis. Poster boards can accommodate posters (portrait layout) of the following dimensions: 100 cm width × 140 cm height.

 

Please read the Abstract Guidelines before submitting an abstract. Abstracts must be submitted via the online submission portal HERE. 

 

  • Abstracts must be submitted in English and describe substantive scientific results in the molecular life sciences.

  • The presenting author of the abstract must complete their registration by 30 March 2019 for abstracts to be assessed and included in the Conference Programme.

  • Each registrant can submit only ONE abstract for evaluation.

  • The same abstract cannot be submitted by different participants.

FAOBMB2019KL Abstract Submission System Step-by-Step Guide:

​

  1. For new authors, please click REGISTER on the ‘Author’ tab to register online through the participant portal. Upon registration, you will be directed to the Abstract Submission page.

  2. Abstract Track: Please select either Regular Oral or Rapid Oral or Poster. Note on oral presentations and possible outcomes: presenters whose abstracts are accepted for Regular Oral or Rapid Oral presentations will be integrated into the Symposia schedules and all remaining submissions will be accepted as Posters.

  3. Abstract Topic: Please choose the most relevant topic from the drop-down menu.

  4. Title: Your abstract title should be short and informative. It must be written in capital letters.

  5. Co-authors and Institutions: Please add authors by using the 'Add Author' button. The workplace address must be added for every co-author listed.

  6. Upload your abstract as a .doc or .docx file (prepared according to the format in the SAMPLE ABSTRACT).

  7. The abstract file should be saved using the presenting author’s name. E.g. ROSALIND MAXWELL.doc or docx.  

  8. Submission may be edited and changed any time before 21st JUNE 2019 by contacting the Scientific Committee at faobmbkl2019.sci@gmail.com

Preparation of Abstract

 

Each participant is limited to ONE abstract submission as the presenting author but may co-author other papers. Please refer to the Sample Abstract for guidance on preparing your abstract.  

​

  1. Abstract must be in English and not exceed 350 words.

  2. Abstracts should be single-spaced, in Times New Roman font size 12.

  3. Abstracts should be submitted in Microsoft Word .doc or .docx format.  

  4. Abstract should consist of a title (CAPITALIZED, bold), full name of author(s) (CAPITALIZED), affiliation of author(s), and body of abstract.

  5. Provide up to 5 keywords.

  6. The presenting author’s name should be in bold.

  7. The corresponding author should be indicated with an asterisk (*) and an email address provided (font size 11).

  8. One high-resolution figure may be included in your abstract.

  9. The final abstract, inclusive of the optional figure, should not exceed ONE A4-sized page.

 

Please proofread your abstract carefully and ensure all details are correct ahead of submission. Abstracts will not be copyedited ahead of posting online. Upload your abstract as a .doc or .docx file (prepared according to the format in the SAMPLE ABSTRACT).

Abstract Revisions

​

Changes to abstracts are accepted only until the submission deadline by using the abstract submission website. After

21 JUNE 2019, no changes or revisions will be allowed.

  • Notification of acceptance will be sent to the Presenting Author by 10 June 2019 for submissions meeting the 31st May 2019 deadline.  Abstracts received after that date will be notified as soon as possible. 

  • The Presenting Author will receive all correspondence regarding the abstract status, presentation type, date and time, via the Presenting Author’s email provided in the abstract submission form.

Publication of Abstracts

 

Accepted abstracts will be made available in the Conference Abstracts online booklet on the Conference website closer to the conference date.

 

Registration and Payment

 

The Presenting Author must register for the Conference as a participant and complete payment of the registration fee before 30 June 2019. Abstracts will be automatically withdrawn if the Presenting Author has not completed their registration and payment.
